It’s not a revelation to say that we are in the people business. Everything we do in staffing revolves around people—placing candidates on jobs, coaching and counseling employees, working with clients, and interacting with co-workers. And yet it is so easy in the hustle and bustle of our job to lose sight of the fact that what we do all day, every day, has a profound impact on people’s lives.
Impacting the Community
We aren’t helping somebody decide what shampoo they should buy, or what level of phone service they should select. Every time we make a placement, we are helping a human being make a major life event choice. This decision impacts their life, the lives of their families, and, ultimately, the community. They are choosing where they are going to spend about half of their waking hours—whether that is just for a few days, months, or years. In some cases, we are changing the entire trajectory of their life with this decision.
For us, it might be the 10th placement we’ve made that week. For them, it can be a life changer.
